On September 26 and October 2, 2024, MindAge, in collaboration with Active Community Group, successfully launched a program aimed at raising awareness about cognitive impairment among our ACG clients. This initiative specifically targeted Cantonese-speaking older adults, providing essential information and screening for early detection.

During the educational talks, participants learned to differentiate between cognitive impairment and normal forgetfulness. We highlighted key warning signs, enabling individuals to recognize potential issues in themselves. Additionally, participants gained insights into various types of cognitive impairment, including the stages of dementia and associated behavioral and psychological symptoms. The program also introduced pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment methods, empowering participants with knowledge about available options. The response from the audience was overwhelmingly positive, with many engaging in lively discussions and asking insightful questions. This interaction not only enriched the learning experience but also fostered a supportive community atmosphere.

Through this initiative, MindAge aims to encourage early intervention and support. By equipping older adults with knowledge and resources, we hope to enhance their quality of life and promote healthy aging. As we continue to raise awareness, we invite further community involvement in future programs, ensuring that cognitive health remains a priority for everyone.
